Feng Shui Bagua. What is Bagua and how to use Bagua?

bagua, ba gua, pa kua

Bagua is the energy map

that gives you guidance on creating the most harmonious energy flow in any given space. Bagua is the main tool used to analyze the feng shui (energy characteristics) of any given space. It literally means "8 areas" or 8 directions, like North, Northeast, East, Southeast, South, Southwest, West, and Northwest. Each direction has an Element, Color, and Life Area associated with it.

To use the bagua

simply stand at the threshold of the door facing into the room. Position the diagram so that the three bottom guas (Skills, Career and Helpful People) are closest to you. Imagine a line cutting straight across the front of your home or office where the door is – this is the line at the bottom of the chart. Once you've ascertained which area is which, it's time to redecorate.

Remember, you can use the bagua

to feng shui your office, your cubicle or your entire house. If you're designing a new office building, use the gua to determine where different job functions should be located. For example, you may place the advertising department in the creativity gua and the accounting department in the prosperity area.

The term "bagua" (or "ba gua")

is derived from the book of the I-Ching, a sacred text used to tell the future. But while the word may sound foreign or unfamiliar to you, 'Feng Shui Bagua' is one of the most basic and fundamental tools of Feng Shui for Feng Shui beginners or anyone who wants to get initiated into practicing Feng Shui. An ancient Chinese term "bagua" means "eight areas" ("ba"=eight, "gua"=area) and Feng Shui bagua is a map or chart that relates the various areas of your life to the 8 sections of your living space. These eight main sections of a space are represented by what are known as "guas" of the bagua map.

The bagua map can also have a ninth center

section that corresponds to the 8 major corresponding life areas. So in this way the layout of bagua map shows the nine main energy centers that we value the most. The map is used by plac ing e it over a floor plan of the space we're being design ed ing or fix ed i ng for problems . With the help of the map, users can and learn how to emphasize pinpoint the areas which that need our immediate attention so that they can be enhanced by Feng Shui practice.
